Course Assignment Instructions

Instructions for the Course Assignment for the SIWHP Training Course

General requirements / CME credits / Deadline

In order to finalize the SIWHP Training Course and receive your CME credits (Continuous Medical Education) you will need to submit a paper. It should be based on the template, course materials and presentations you have received and attended.

Please note that this paper is composed of 2 parts:

The paper itself which needs to be written in Slovenian (however we encourage all those who can to do it in English),

The summary (no less than 500 words) which needs to be in English.

This paper needs to be submitted by the 9th of November 2012. Further details on the paper are provided below.

Tutor Recommendations On-Line

We strongly believe that you will need ongoing support over the month when you will be writing this paper and therefore we have arranged support from all of the lecturers who presented at the training course. This support will be in the form of electronic forums and e-mail support.

FORUMS

You will be requested to go online to receive advice and recommendations for writing your paper as well as to encourage you to use the SIWHP e-learning platform. Therefore we invite you during the period between 8th of October and the 12th of November 2012 to go online on the SIWHP website (www.si-whp.eu) and log on to the MEMBERS area and participate in forums (10 forum areas, corresponding to the 10 modules).

Each module lecturer will be available for you based on a pre-established schedule. This schedule will be received on paper and in the Course Assignment Instructions area and within the Forum itself.

You are requested to visit at least 1 forums per week, so a total of 4 forums. Of course it is entirely up to you to choose the forum which fits your interests, the profile of your paper, and which can provide the answers you need so as to enable you to write your assignment.

WRITE TO YOUR LECTURER

E-Mail support is provided by the CONTACT A LECTURER option which if pressed will automatically open a window where you can write a message to the lecturer in charge of the Module. Each lecturer will answer your message in no more than 2 working days so as to support you in writing your assignment.

Deciding the Theme of the WHP Project (SIWHP Course Assignment)

A paper would otherwise be prepared on the basis of imaginary company, but we recommend you (if possible) to select real company for which you work because you can develop a plan / program that will actually be useful. Choice of topics or issues that you deal with should be based on an analysis of available data on the health of the organization (e.g. data on sick leave and in its causes, data from the reports after completing periodic screenings, data on injuries at work, the results of different surveys, for example satisfaction at work, the results of measurements in the working environment, etc.).

Face-to-face training courses already implemented

Both face-to-face training courses within the SIWHP project were already implemented, the first one in May and the second one in September and October 2012. Alltogether 30 occupational health specialists and residents took part in the courses.
About Us

SIWHP project – Workplace health promotion as a means of increasing the professional knowledge of the Slovenian occupational, traffic and sports medicine physicians

The aim of the project

The general aim of the project, which is co-financed by the European Commission from the funds of the Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning Programme – Transfer of Innovation, is to introduce an innovative educational programme about workplace health promotion to Slovenia, a programme intended for specialists in occupational, traffic and sport medicine, to expand it by means of up-to-date relevant knowledge in cooperation with European partners and to adapt it to the situation in Slovenia. The programme which is used as a source was drawn up by the experts from the most prominent European professional institutions from the field of occupational health. It was first implemented in Romania.

Goals of the project

The project will enrich the offer of professional training intended for specialists in occupational, traffic and sport medicine in the field of workplace health promotion. In 2012, thirty specialists in occupational, traffic and sport medicine are expected to take part in the training, i.e. fifteen participants in each of the two seminars.

Organization of training

Each seminar will last for six days, i.e. for three days in two consecutive weeks. The seminars will be organized as follows:

the first seminar: from 17 to 19 and from 24 to 26 May 2012

the second seminar: from 27 to 29 September and from 4 to 6 October 2012.

The training starts with e-learning and encourages the participants to study additional literature and to enter into discussions with other participants; the discussions are led by individual lecturers. The aim of e-learning is to devise a plan of the workplace health promotion programme for a particular company, which is also a condition that has to be met if one wants to complete the training successfully.

Benefits for the training participants

To acquire new knowledge from the field of workplace health promotion, to brush up some other skills (e.g. from the field of ergonomics, risk assessment), to improve computer literacy in order to be able to find professional information

To gain credit points necessary for the promotion at the Medical Chamber of Slovenia

To provide better opportunities to co-operate with companies and to give advice on employees’ health

Welcome to the website of Workplace Health Promotion training

The SIWHP project aims to enhance the knowledge of workplace health promotion of specialists in occupational, traffic and sports medicine in Slovenia, thus making their role in this field more important. To achieve this purpose, an innovative educational programme is being introduced to Slovenia, the programme which is expanded by means of up-to-date relevant knowledge at international level and is adapted to the situation in Slovenia. We cooperate with the most prominent European professional institutions from the field of occupational health.

The partners in the SIWHP project support the Luxembourg declaration, which was adopted by the European Network of Workplace Health Promotion – ENWHP and which defines workplace health promotion as the combined efforts of employers, employees and society to improve the health and well-being of people at work. This can be achieved through a combination of

improving the work organization and the working environment

 promoting active participation and

 encouraging personal development. .

By taking part in the SIWHP project, specialists in occupational, traffic and sports medicine can expect new opportunities for the cooperation with companies and for more successful work carried out in the field of employees’ health.

In 2012, educational activities will be conducted twice and seminars will be organized as follows:

the first seminar: from 17 to 19 and from 24 to 26 May 2012
